Bottle shipping packaging FAQs

The questions small drinks producers ask us most โ€” how to ship bottles unbroken, sizing for 330ml and 500ml, no-minimum buying, recyclability, ordering, delivery and returns. Can't find it? Get in touch.

Shipping bottles safely

How do you ship a wine bottle safely without it breaking?
Cushion the bottle on all sides and stop it moving inside a rigid box. Slip the bottle into a valved inflatable air-cushion sleeve, seat it in a double-walled kraft bottle box, and seal with paper tape โ€” the sleeve absorbs shocks and the box resists crushing, so the glass can't knock against anything in transit. It's the box-in-box method producers use by hand, but stocked and repeatable. See our guide on how to ship bottles safely for the full method.
How do you ship beer or cans (330ml and 500ml) safely?
Use a kraft carrier box sized to your volume โ€” 330ml or 500ml โ€” in a 3- or 6-bottle layout so the bottles or cans sit snug and can't move. For posting through a courier rather than hand-delivery, add an air-cushion sleeve around each glass bottle and seal the outer with paper tape so nothing shifts.
Do inflatable wine bottle protectors actually work?
Yes โ€” a valved air-column sleeve suspends the bottle in rows of air cushions, absorbing impacts the way bubble wrap does, and it's reusable rather than single-use. Users routinely report zero breakages. For posting, use the sleeve inside a rigid box; for a hand-delivered gift the sleeve alone is usually enough.
What's the difference between 65ยตm and 100ยตm air-cushion sleeves?
The micron figure is the thickness of the sleeve's film. 65ยตm is the standard-duty sleeve, fine for most single-bottle gifting and posting; 100ยตm is the thicker, heavier-duty version, better for repeat handling, heavier bottles or shipping in volume.
How many bottles fit in a shipping box?
Choose a box rated for the count you need. Our double-walled kraft bottle boxes come for 1, 2, 3 or 6 bottles, and the kraft carrier boxes hold 3 or 6 bottles or cans at 330ml or 500ml. Give each bottle its own cushioned space so they can't knock together.

Small quantities & buying

Can I order small quantities, or is there a minimum order?
You can buy by the pack with clear GBP pricing โ€” there is no pallet minimum, so a small drinks producer can trial a single pack before scaling. Buy by the case, not the pallet. For a bigger run, see our small-producer wholesale page or get in touch and we'll help you plan quantities.
What's the best packaging for a small winery or brewery?
A small producer needs protection, presentation and sealing bought by the case: double-walled bottle boxes and valved air-cushion sleeves to ship glass unbroken, carrier boxes sized to 330ml/500ml for take-home and gift packs, single-bottle gift bags for DTC presentation, and plastic-free kraft tape to seal โ€” all with no pallet minimum.
What kinds of packaging does WRAPMEADOW sell?
WRAPMEADOW leads with bottle-shipping packaging for small UK drinks producers: protective bottle packaging (inflatable air-cushion sleeves and double-walled kraft boxes), beer and wine carrier boxes (3 or 6 bottles, 330ml and 500ml), 21 single-bottle wine gift bags, and plastic-free kraft paper tape. The wider range also includes recyclable kraft food pouches and copper foil tape. Everything is priced in GBP and dispatched from the UK.

Materials & recyclability

Are the kraft pouches, tape and boxes recyclable?
Yes. Our kraft pouches, boxes and paper tape are made from kraft paper and board โ€” a renewable, widely recyclable material. Kraft paper tape is fully recyclable with the box it seals, and the carrier boxes are plain board you can recycle kerbside in most UK areas.
Is paper tape better than plastic packing tape?
Yes, for recyclability. Kraft paper tape can be recycled together with the cardboard box it seals, so the whole parcel goes in one recycling stream. Plastic packing tape has to be peeled off first because it contaminates cardboard recycling, which is why paper tape is the lower-waste choice for sealing boxes.
What can I use instead of bubble wrap for bottles?
Reusable inflatable air-cushion bottle sleeves are a low-waste alternative to bubble wrap. The clear sleeve inflates into rows of air columns that cradle the bottle, deflates flat for storage, and pairs with a double-walled kraft bottle box so the whole parcel protects the bottle without single-use plastic.

Food pouches

Are the food pouches safe for food?
Yes. The kraft stand-up pouches are food-grade and designed for dry goods such as coffee, tea, snacks, granola and spices. They are resealable with a zip-lock and heat-sealable for a tamper-evident finish.
What size kraft pouch do I need?
Match the pouch to your fill weight rather than its dimensions alone. As a rough guide, a 90 ร— 140 mm pouch suits ~50โ€“100 g, 110 ร— 185 mm around 100โ€“250 g, 130 ร— 210 mm about 250โ€“500 g, and the larger 170 ร— 240 mm and flat-bottom pouches hold roughly 500 gโ€“1 kg. Our kraft pouch guide has the full sizing rundown.

Copper tape

What is the copper tape used for?
Our copper foil tape is self-adhesive and conductive. People use it as a slug and snail barrier around plant pots and raised beds, for stained-glass and Tiffany work, for shielding guitar cavities and electronics, and for craft and model-making. It comes in five widths from 5 mm to 50 mm.
What width of copper tape should I buy?
Match the width to the job: narrow 5 mm and 10 mm tape suits stained glass and fine craft; 20 mm and 24 mm are good all-rounders for shielding and general use; and 50 mm is best for slug barriers and lining larger surfaces where you want an unbroken band.

Wine & beer packaging

How many wine gift bag designs are there?
There are 21 printed wine gift bag designs to choose from, sized to fit a standard single wine bottle. The range spans festive, floral and classic styles so you can match the bag to the occasion or your brand.
Will a beer carrier box fit cans as well as bottles?
Yes. The carrier boxes are sized for 330 ml and 500 ml bottles and cans, in 3-bottle and 6-bottle layouts, so they suit both glass bottles and standard cans of those volumes.
